For our Research and Development team in Zurich we are looking for an

Hardware Design Engineer (Electrical Engineer MSc or PhD)

You are comfortable designing embedded circuits with state-of-the art tools and testing equipment. You are fascinated by measurement devices that provide 160dB signal-to-noise ratios and you have talent in contributing to a team all focused on getting things up and running. This is your chance for working inside a small high-quality R&D team striving for the best-on-market measurement hardware and software solutions.

In this position, you will be responsible for

  • Closely work within the R&D team with members from hardware, HDL and software
  • Design high-end electronic systems for the next generation products of Zurich Instruments
  • Perform hardware development, simulation, layout, bench characterization, and documentation
  • Define specifications and conduct feasibility studies
  • Use PCB CAD tools to produce prototype and production-grade PCB's
  • Assist in developing test and calibration procedures for new and existing hardware
  • Collaborate with external suppliers for, e.g., PCB layout or RF component design

To make these endeavors successful, you should bring

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience in circuit design and characterization of mixed signal PCBs involving analog/RF building blocks, FPGAs/DSPs, mixed-signal circuits (ADC, DAC) and power supply conditioning
  • Experience in circuit design and enabling of embedded communication systems, controllers, and digital interfaces
  • Experience with PCB and RF design tools, like Altium, Eagle, HyperLynx or similar
  • Knowledgeable in embedded software development and scripting (C/C++, Python, HDL)
  • Expert in using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and VNAs
  • Proficient in English, additional languages are a plus
